Seed swapping in Greenwich

It's no secret that with vegetable shortages nationally, more people are now turning to growing there own. So what can we do to help residents and businesses to grow from seeds locally? Kevin Godby, our Growing Lead shares his secrets:
"I attended the seed swap last year at Omved Gardens in Highgate where I was photographed during their open day seed swap in February '22. As a reward for my pictures being used in the Omved pavilion at Chelsea Flower Show (where it won a Silver medal), I was invited to the Private View later in the summer during the hottest day of the year. There were dainty morsels prepared on site to eat, and cooling drinks served while we looked round the gardens.
Fast forward, and the Omved Seed Saving network has launched this year's collection. Paying £1 postage allows you to receive three free packets of seeds. I ordered black cherry tomatoes, Omved Kale and Pea - Sugar Snap - Spring Blush. In return, we are asked to do our best to grow them, save some seed and report back on how they grew. Currently, they are awaiting stock, but even if it isn't possible to secure seed, I recommend a visit to Omved if it opens when the weather improves, it really is a lovely site and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable."
