Join one of Woodlands Farm's Free Group Tours this year!

Woodlands Farm on Shooters Hill in Greenwich are offering free group tours around their farm this year, an exciting opportunity for you and your colleagues, friends or community groups to visit and learn more about a working farm on Greenwich soil!

Woodlands Farm is an 89-acre city farm with livestock, orchards, hay meadows, bee hives, hedgerows, a pond and a cottage garden. It has been running as a

charity since 1997 and functions as an education and conservation project using traditional farming practices. Their large size makes them a unique site within London allowing them to show a diverse range of habitats and encourage a variety of wildlife as a result.  They have a large flock of about 70 sheep as well as cows, pigs, chickens, and a pony.  Seasonally the farm is always changing; from the birth of the lambs in April to the hay meadows coming into full bloom in June and then in the autumn they are busy maintaining our hedgerows using traditional hedge laying techniques and harvesting fruit from the orchards.  There is always something to see!

Thanks to recently secured funding from the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, they are currently offering in-depth guided tours for groups from 4 to around 30 people. Tours will last around two hours and can be tailored to your topic of interest around farming whether it is soil health, conservation practices, managing livestock, hedge laying or pursuing a career in farming. Tours can be booked in for the whole year and offer an exciting glimpse beyond the farmyard and into the surrounding meadow area too.
