In 2013 Greenwich was awarded the Sustainable Food Places status; a fantastic step forward in recognising the huge amount of work already happening in Greenwich in supporting ‘Good Food’ across the borough. The Sustainable Food Places approach works with cities and boroughs across the country to bring people together to make healthy and sustainable food a defining characteristic of where they live.
We now have a steering group, a partnership of organisations and individuals responsible for the delivery of this work. Its aims are simple yet important and include:
Engaging with local partners and agencies to support the Good Food in Greenwich strategy
Developing ideas and actions for implementation in consultation with and on behalf of the network.
Ensuring the delivery of the action plan identifying and addressing barriers to action
Providing advice and information to the working groups
The steering group meets quarterly and there are further network meetings that bring together the wider group of people keen to support the work of GFIG.
The meetings are an excellent opportunity to network with others, find out what is happening in the borough, be inspired and link up with others to work on projects and ideas.
We welcome new members to the steering group but ask that people commit to attend the meetings and work in line with the terms of reference. If you’re interested in joining the steering group, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form.
